WW1 Information Required

As we all know, 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the First World War. Our magazine(s), this year, will feature articles covering that war.

Some members are requesting information regarding Bonnybridge families and their part in the war effort. We are trying to find out what it was like for the women regarding occupations they would have had to replace the men, or just what it was like to be left to look after families without the help expected nowadays.

If you have even a tiny bit of a family story regarding what your (great) granny might have done, please let us know. Perhaps they delivered the mail, worked in factories etc., or temporarily moved away to nurse wounded?

Perhaps you have a war hero or even a deserter in your family. The latter would have been shameful at the time but we are more enlightened now and it might be the time to right a wrong about some poor soul.
